What changed
A 7 October CQNews report recorded 9.1 million visits to monitored A-rated attractions during National Day 2026. Overnight trips and leisure-district visits were reported separately; the figures should not be added together.
Who is affected
Travellers researching Chongqing attractions can use the holiday rankings as background. The figures count visits within the monitored group, not unique people visiting the whole municipality, and do not predict current crowds or ticket availability.
What to do
Check each attraction's current official visitor information, booking and entry requirements, and transport before arranging your visit. Use the rankings to choose places to research, then confirm the details for your travel dates.

Chongqing's monitored A-rated attractions recorded 9.1 million visits during the 2026 National Day holiday, according to a 7 October report by CQNews citing the municipal culture and tourism commission. The figure covers the monitored attractions; it is not a count of unique people visiting the whole municipality. CQNews holiday report

The report ranked Hongya Cave, Ciqikou Ancient Town, Wulong Karst, Meixin Wine Town and the Gele Mountain Revolutionary Memorial Hall as the five leading attractions by visits. It separately recorded 3.6581 million overnight visitor trips across Chongqing, including 23,579 inbound overnight trips, with the inbound figure up 34.4% year on year.

Ten monitored tourism and leisure districts recorded 3.414 million visits. Shibati, Danzishi Old Street and Longmenhao Old Street led that group's ranking. These categories describe different parts of the holiday market and should not be added together to create a total number of visitors.

For travel planning, use the rankings as ideas to research rather than a prediction of conditions on your own dates. The report does not establish current queues, available tickets, hotel prices or the next day's opening arrangements.

Choose the places that fit your interests, then check each one's current visitor information and the journey between them. If a sight is essential to your trip, settle its booking and access requirements before building the rest of the day around it. Holiday attendance is useful context, while your actual itinerary still needs its own transport and timing checks.
